Be The Best That You Can Be-Incorporate Wellness Into Your World

Newark, N.J. —You are invited and Welcome to attend the 29th Annual Muslim Convention – sponsored by The Mosque Cares (TMC)-Ministry of Imam W. Deen Mohammed.

Throughout this three day weekend there will be rich, interactive programming, events and an abundance of networking opportunities. Continuing with the traditional events established by Imam Warith Deen Mohammed: Culture Night, events for singles and married couples, Children, Fitness, Health and Wellness, Awards Banquet, Fashions and the State of the Community Public Address. Numerous Community Forums, Seminars and Workshop Sessions will focus on leveraging Imam W. Deen Mohammed’s 40+ years of leadership, his Quran Tafsir and our Community’s extensive knowledge and expertise.

The Mosque Cares Health and Wellness coordinator for 2018, Haneefah Salim, has gathered some very knowledgeable and talented Health, Wellness and Fitness professionals to provide the attendees with some exciting and useful tools to assist them in incorporating wellness into their world. This forum, Be The Best That You Can Be-Incorporate Wellness Into Your World, is a 90 minute session which allows time for questions at the end. It will take place on Saturday.. (Please check your schedule upon arrival for the exact time and location). Allow us to introduce the presenters as follows: ( note: where you see the name Preceded by Hajjah or Hajji that indicates that the person has fulfilled the fifth pillar in Islam by making the pilgrimage to Mecca).

Hajjah Haneefah Salim - The Health and Wellness Coordinator for The Mosque Cares 2018 Convention. Haneefah is a Fitness Professional, She has a B.S. in Health Care Administration, AAAI-ISMA Certified in Yoga, Stress Reduction- Meditation and Relaxation, Tai Chi, Group Fitness and Personal Training. Sister Haneefah has many years of experience in the health and wellness field. She is an independent contractor and conducts fitness sessions Nationally and Internationally. Her yoga sessions are particularly popular at hotel resorts in the Islands on the beach. She has been Muslim under the leadership of Imam W. Deen Mohammed for many years and she is blessed to have made the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) twice. Sister Haneefah’s hometown is Philadelphia, PA. Presentation: How To Use Physical Fitness To Improve and maintain good Health.

Hajji Imam Mutee A. Mulazim, resident Imam of Masjid Al-Inshirah, Inc. Windsor Mill Maryland. This Masjid sits on 25 acres of land and the community has worked diligently to build the new Masjid from the ground up. They are continuing with additional renovations Inside of the new Masjid. Imam Mutee and his wife Tiye live in Baltimore County Maryland. Imam Mutee is a behavioral therapist, a licensed Psychiatric Assistant, a Certified Sexual Offender Treatment Specialist (CSOTS) and ABD Doctoral candidate. Imam Mutee and his wife successfully own and operate a few mental health facilities in Maryland.

Presentation: Maintaining Good spiritual health in this current climate. How to resist the negative forces that are so prevalent today through spiritual guidance and perseverance.

Hajjah Nimat Muhammad RN, BS, MS in nursing, Sister Nimat is a certified rehabilitation registered nurse and lifetime member of the national Black nurses association. She and her husband Brother Talib are from the Washington, DC area. Presentation: A Stroke Does Not Have To Be Fatal. She will discuss How to Reduce stroke risk factors, How to Recognize stroke symptoms and How to Respond to a stroke.

Inshirah Aleem was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. She currently resides in Greenbelt, Maryland with her 10-year-old beautiful and talented daughter Nisaa. Sister Inshirah is a Special Educator at a charter school in Washington, DC. Her memoir entitled, She Smiles and Cries, highlights her struggles with mental illness Inshirah believes the Creator has blessed her with this struggle and light to ease the pain of those suffering in darkness without sight. Presentation: Mental ILLNESS. causes, coping, treatment, effects and recovery associated with mental illness. Sister Inshirah is very positive thinking, always smiling and a devoted mother and Muslim. She is very active in the community and her skills and talents are well sought after in the community.

Zaimah Salahu-din lives in Bakersfield, California with her beloved husband Hajji Imam Nashid Salahud-Din. Sister Zaimah is a Licensed Vocational Nurse, retired from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, at North Kern State prison. Sister Zaimah is an experienced Nurse Consultant and Nutrition Trainer for the Creative Connections Agency, which places Disabled Adults, who are Wards of the State, in homes. She trains supervisors in Nutrition and on how to properly prepare and balance daily meals for adequate nutrition. She teaches Health Nutrition classes at a local Senior Citizens Center in her town. Sister Zaimah is an asset to the community as a whole.

Presentation: Combining Natural Juicing with All-Natural Supplements for Nutrition and convenience. Sister Zaimah will introduce and discussed the benefits of a Whole Food product called “Juice Plus” which comes in capsules and chewables!

Hajjah khadijah Islam is from Harrisonburg, Virginia. Sister Khadijah has been a Critical Care BSN Registered Nurse 34 yrs and a Nutrition Specialists. Sister Khadijah is a care giver by nature. She moved both of her elderly parents into her home and took over the complete care them. Providing them with proper nutrition and ensuring all of their needs were met. Sister Khadijah’s Dad has since passed while in the comfort of her home and her compassionate care. She continues to care for her elderly mother in her home with the same care and concern. May she be rewarded for all the good that she does.

Presentation: Traditional and Practical Approach to Nutrition. A look at nutrition simplified for real application as it relates to mind , body and spirit. She will also discuss the blocks to daily practice.

Morning Workout sessions, conducted by certified fitness trainers Haneefah Salim and Hanifah Najeeullah, from New York, who is certified and specializes in Zumba Fitness.

The sessions will be as follows: *two- 30 minute sessions each day. Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7:30-8:30AM. The sessions will include: Interval Resistance training and Cardio, Yoga Mix with Tai Chi and Pilates, Line Dance and Basic Zumba-Strength with or without handheld weights. Sister Hanifah Najeeullah saids that Zumba is a total body workout which combines Latin movements with Strengthening exercises to the sounds of music, so your workout becomes fun!

Note: Each session will end with some flexibility exercises to get your body back in balance.
